My take : Now isn’t this contrary to modern child ‘rearing’ methods? There is huge difference in applying physical punishment from a spirit of love vs anger. I think physical punishment should be on the ‘bottom’ of the list as discipline can be dished out many ways. When a child willfully disobeys something important then some controlled tough love is warranted. And God does the same in His own way. What say you?
